About this template

A Q&A with a colleague on why it’s great to work at the company is much more convincing and creates a stronger connection than just listing bullet points. Depending on your hiring needs and the size of your organisation, you could produce anything from one Q&A per team to one for every role.

How to get started

This is a step-by-step guide on how you use this template to write your year in review video script.

Find your story

Create or reference the main themes for your employer brand values, company culture and employee benefits. Focus on one per video. Chat with your colleagues and find out who has a good anecdote or a particular take on any of the topics. That way, you know you're collecting authentic answers while staying on message.

Find your assets

Use a high-quality image of the person. If you want to kick it up a notch and make the content even more engaging, take some candid-looking shots or film short clips of the person in the office, one for each question.

Produce it

Go through the template to get a sense of what you need and formulate the questions you want to ask so that the answers you get from your colleague can be used as they are. Collect them via a form or email and ask the person to take or choose relevant images or videos of themself.

Create your video script

Who Are You?

Go straight into the action with this initial question. This sets the stage without having to use a traditional title or headline.

Example:

“Who are you, and what do you do here?”

Who Are You?

This Is Me!

This answer sets the stage for the following two questions. It should include their name, title and other important details for the viewer to know. Write in the first person and keep this part short and to the point. Because you’ve introduced the person here, you won’t have to attribute any other quotes in this video.
Example:
"I am [Name Surname], I’m the [Title] at [Organisation], and [Extra Details]"

This Is Me!

Why Do You Like Working Here?

Here, the interviewee gets to talk about what they like about the workplace, both from their personal viewpoint and career standpoint. You can vary the exact wording of this question – but keep it in line with the scope of the example.

Examples:

“Why do you like/enjoy working here?”

“What are the best things about working here?”

Why Do You Like Working Here?

This Is A Great Place To Work Because

Their answer can – and should – span from pros about the workplace to those about personal fulfilment. It can be a bit longer since this is where your script pivots. You want the interviewee to share their feelings about working here, so aim for an informal answer rather than one that sounds like corporate talking points. A personal answer makes the video more engaging for the audience.

Why Should Others Work Here?

Use this question to shift the narrative from focusing on the interviewee’s experience to something that turns the viewer’s focus to the possibility of them joining your organisation. Consider what kind of information will be most impactful for the audience. The question will dictate whether you highlight employee benefits, the workplace culture or the specific skill set needed for a role or in a team.

Examples:

“Why do you think others would like it here?”

“Who would have a great time working here, with you?”

Why Should Others Work Here?

They Should Work Here Because

The interviewee should put their own twist on why this is a workplace that would suit the viewer - either as a potential candidate for a specific role or a team.

Open Positions

Let the viewer know where they can find more information on open positions and the recruitment process. You could refer to a link in your post or comments, for example. If you have a shortened URL that’s easy for the viewer to type, add it to the video.
