About this template

This format is about highlighting a colleague who has made a fascinating “career” journey within the organisation. It doesn't have to be a typical journey to the C-suite, it could be about lateral development too. You don’t want to make it look like becoming an executive is the only measure of success.

How to get started

This is a step-by-step guide on how you use this template to write your year in review video script.

Find your story

Speak to people that have been with your organisation for a while to find out about how different people got to where they are today – someone in HR is likely to know.

Find your assets

You want to make an effort to get assets from the different periods you talk about in this person’s work life - a sure way to enhance the video!

Produce it

Create a headline that sets the scene and then present the career journey by splitting it into before and after. Gather quotes from the person that speaks to these two phases.

Create your video script

Name Headline

Use the person’s name in the headline, and then craft something relevant to how this person has evolved within the organisation.

Examples:

“[Name Surname] – always with their eyes on innovation,”

“The many shapes of [Name Surname]”

“How [Name Surname] went from the mailroom to the boardroom.”

Name Headline

Start Subheader

Create a playful header to signal that this is the first part of the journey. You could reference a well known meme or cultural reference for a bit of fun, or something a little more figurative or editorial for something more serious.

Examples:

“How it started…”

“The Origins”

“The first steps”

Start Subheader

Start Quote

Let the person tell their origin story at the organisation. Use their words; while editing, ensure you capture as much of the meaning as possible while still keeping it to the point.

Start Quote

Going Subheader

Pivot to current day with a header, written in the same way as you wrote the previous one.

Examples:

“How it’s going…”

“Where are you now?”

“The Present Day”

Going Subheader

Going Quote

Let the person speak about their current situation - where they are now and what they’re doing.

Outro

Incllude a standard message for the outro, if needed. Or just use a simple logo ending.
