About this template

You’ve got a great workplace filled with fantastic colleagues, but how do you illustrate that? This format will help you add a personal touch to how you showcase the kinds of people and roles in the company in a way that starts conversations and creates a more personal connection.

How to get started

This is a step-by-step guide on how you use this template to write your year in review video script.

Find your story

There are great stories almost everywhere amongst your colleagues, and the idea here is to focus on the person first and then the connection to the company or role as a secondary point. So, start asking people around you, and you’re sure to find something interesting in no time.

Find your assets

Use a high-quality image or video of the person throughout the video.

Produce it

Start with a headline and short introduction to set the stage for why this person – and their short story – is relevant to your organisation. Then use a quote from the person to illustrate this. Prepare a question that will get you an answer that connects their personal trait to their role. Encourage the person to go further than simply saying that they are detail-oriented. Instead, they could give an anecdote about something they did that illustrates their attention to detail.

Create your video script

The "Person Who…"

An excellent way to write the headline is to use phrases like “the woman/man who…” or use references to popular culture, such as “Wonder Woman” or “Iron Man.” These headlines create the “hero” imagery you want for this format – and it works well for setting the scene and tone for the viewer.

The "Person Who…"

Bridge Introduction

Create the connection between the person and the organisation by describing how their traits are relevant to the organisation. This will be the segue into their quote.

Example:

“When doing [Aspect of Job], it pays off to have [Experience/Trait].”

Bridge Introduction

Personal Quote

This quote should connect the personal experience or trait to what this person works with today. Make sure to include a subtitle for the quote that includes the name of your organisation and what they do in as much detail as possible.

Example:

"[Experience/Trait] + [Anecdotal Example] + [Connection To Role]"

Personal Quote

Outro With Message

Use a standard slogan or write something connected to the script, depending on how you’ll be using this video.
