This format is about digging up the underlying issues that led to today’s business or products. So it’s about the original pain points your organisation set out to solve.
This is a step-by-step guide on how you use this template to write your year in review video script.
Speak to the people that have been at the organisation the longest or have a solid grasp of the history.
Use relevant images/video clips that depict your solution or illustrate the problem. Include a portrait of the person being quoted, too.
Do some research and put together a few descriptions related to the background and context of the issues, and source a quote. Do the same for the solution. Use the same person for both quotes.
Start with the “problem” – the headline should mention what was wrong. If possible, formulate this as a before and after comparison. Use a relevant image/video clip that depicts your solution or the problem.
Examples:
“Remember how bad [Solution] used to be?”
“Before [Product] – no one could afford to do this.”
“People paid too much for [X]– so we changed that.”
Briefly elaborate on the issue mentioned in the headline. Provide the facts and some context to explain how things were before.
Get a quote from a relevant stakeholder in your organisation that confirms the perspective described above. If possible, someone who was there from the beginning and was part of solving the issue. This adds some colour to the problem definition.
Describe the solution – what it is and how it came about. You can keep this relatively short because the quote that follows will cover the same topic, so just provide a brief background.
Example:
“…and that problem prevailed until [X] happened and we found a solution that was….”
Round off with a quote about the solution and more importantly - how you found the solution. If this person was part of that process, this would add a lot of value to the video. Ask for their recollection or assessment of why this solution works.
Include a standard message for the outro, if needed. Leave empty if you just want to use your logo.
